44. Peanuts, and the beauty in the small

The fallishness of the big bowl of roasted peanuts that someone brought to work this afternoon, and other fruits that still appear only in their season.

The way the cat sneaks up into my lap and works her head between the book and me.

A voice I hadn't heard in a while.

Chapter vii of Laura Boggess's new book Playdates With God, her question "How is your heart?" and her reminder that comparing yourself to others can make you miss the beauty in the small.

My world is small. This I know and sometimes I bump up against the edges of it. But mostly, I see the beauty God has given me in the small. In small, I am more able to see the bigger things. — Laura Boggess

Seeing the sun heat through the clouds this morning; seeing the moon rise over the river this evening.

What small beauty fell or rose into your life today?

  1. Something about this small list is speaking calm to me this morning. It happens every time I pay attention to those little things. One would think I'd learn to do it better by now.
