32. A notable day

Joy, gladness, thankfuls, today's five:

Talking to my daughter in anticipation of seeing her tomorrow.

Seeing a lightning bug. (I've been writing, and not writing, about fireflies, and seeing one a few days into fall is like a little low-wattage benediction to keep at it.)

Learning that an essay I wrote is listed as a Notable Essay in the back of an anthology I have been buying and hoping to appear in ever since its inaugural issue in 1986.

Seeing dozens of folks like and comment on that news, and thinking about where you all live geographically (coast to coast! north to south!) and how we know each other (hometown, grade school classmates, parents of grade school classmates, high school, college, the University of Pittsburgh graduate writing program, former colleagues at UALR, the newspaper, Laity Lodge, the Glen the glorious Glen (when there was just the one, then East and West both), Hope House, Abingdon Press, the Festival of Faith and Writing, Tweetspeak Poetry, church, Soulation, Jumping Tandem, Tweetspeak Poetry, Jumping Tandem, Hutchmoot, randomness) and just feeling the richness and interconnectedness of a life. Blessings, mercies and love to you all.

Hearing from my first-grade teacher that my mother would be proud of me.

So how was your day?
